Series # 2 is identical to # 1 above, but you include a follow up technique – assumes you are not able to run.  After breakaway technique, simply follow up with a combination of strikes/kicks until safe.

Series # 3 Grab Defenses – Outside Wrist Lock (Kote Gaeshi)

# 1: Same side wrist grab - Finger lock

(A).   Live hand and water hose effect (strong stance)
(B).   Distraction technique (low line kick) to loosen up attacker’s grip on your wrist.
(C).   Turn palm “inside” and palm faces up. Fingers extended toward attacker.
(D).   Free hand grabs attackers wrist from underneath (don’t grab hand!)
(E).  With the hand that was being grabbed, simply rotate your hand with palm down.DSC02265-resized.JPG aDSC02266-resized.JPG b          DSC02267-resized.JPG cDSC02268-resized.JPG dDSC02269-resized.JPG d

#2: Same side wrist grab

(A).   Live hand and water hose effect.  B should occur at same time as A if possible.
(B).   Distraction technique (low line kick) to slow down or stop attack from continuing.
(C).   Rotate palm up while using free hand to grab “meat” of thumb from underneath.
(D).  Take free hand and either use a “knife hand strike” to knuckles.  This will make the
                       attacker fall to the ground.

(A).   Live hand and water hose effect.  Include a distraction technique (not always shown).
(B).   Rotate palm up and (waving) at attacker.  Rotate palm to outside for b below.
(C).  Take free hand and grab meat of hand from underneath.
(D).  Free hand from grab (work against the thumb) and then knife hand to create lock.  Take
attacker to ground to complete technique.

#4: Same side wrist grab called “Corkscrew”
                (A).  same as above
                (B).  same as above
(C).  Rotate palm up while grabbing the wrist of the attacker with the free hand.
(D).  Pull hand away and re-grab the attackers hand while rotating it and pushing it into him.
(E).  Continue to turn (torque) the wrist and now step back and pull attacker toward you.
(F).  Attacker will go to ground because of “corkscrew” action of continually turning wrist.

Series # 4 Grab Defenses – Arm bar (ikkajo) I have purposefully left one off…

#1: Same side wrist grab called “reverse ikkajo or Mr. Nasty”
                (A).  same side wrist grab
(B).  Step into the grab while pulling away as in series 1- # 1.  While re-grabbing  their hand.
(C).  After pulling away, strike to the body with a reverse knife hand strike.
(D).  Finish by locking their elbow against your arm, and executing Mr. Nasty OR reverse ikkajo

#2: Same side wrist grab called “Cradle”
                (A | B | C|.  Same as above.
(D).  After knife hand strike, pin their forearm to your waist, while wrapping your hand
underneath their arm, which pins their elbow tightly between your waist and arm.
(E).  While controlling their arm, quickly take a step forward while maintaining the pin to break.

#3: Same side wrist grab called “Neck Strangulation Throw – Kube Shimi nage”
(A).  Attacker does a double-hand choke on you (will also work on single choke across wind pipe)
(A).  Step forward and double punch to abdomen, stepping forward to side of his lower hand.
(B).  After striking, raise your hand and pin their lower hand to your chest, create an air way.
(C).  Lower your body, and raise forcefully while using your arm to create an arm bar – lock their
                       elbow.
(D).  Not pictured – after locking their arm, take a step forward and maintain the pin – this will
break their arm.  Your partner must forward roll out of this to eliminate injury – you must
release your pin or their arm will be injured.

#4:  Traditional Arm bar (ikkajo hold)
                (A).  Cross grab
(B).  Rotate your arm around to outside and “re-grab” their forearm while taking a step to the
                        outside.
(C).  Note the pin on their wrist with my hand in addition to placing it on my waist.  Other arm
is placed on their shoulder while taking a step into them and do a “cutting motion”  with
arm.  Simiilar to # 2 Hoshin Sul.  Advanced movements of this will spin them around.

4_4a.jpg a  4_4b.jpg b  4_4c.jpg c

# 5:  Same hold as in Hoshin Sul # 4 – inside wrist grab and pull.
                (A).  Same side wrist grab
(B).  Rotate your arm to outside, while keeping thumb “up” and inside while rotating.
(C).  Rotate their wrist over, esposing their elbow (pointing to ceiling).
(D).  “Pull the slack out of their arm, kick, and/or control.
